Went to Mayhem fest with some friends on Friday. It was pretty awesome! In the first place, it was a fascinating experience watching all the people who came. Some seemed out of place because they were too normal looking, others because they dressed up in the wrong style of weird, and some were just downright frightening. It was fun torturing each other with some of the monstrosities we saw. Some people need to realize that there are some clothing they, personally, should never wear. But they don't, and we get to struggle not to stare at their giant asses and rolls of fat spilling out of their clothes....
Aside from the people, it was pretty damn hot. We worked up a decent sweat before it was time for the main stage. Which leads to another experience of Mayhem fest: by the time you go home you will be covered in sweat, beer, and at least two kinds of smoke, regardless of whether you did any smoking or drinking. The amphitheater was filled with cigarette and other smokes, and beer had a disturbing tendency to go flying through the air. So, have a hot shower ready when you finally navigate the nightmarish traffic which inevitably occurs after the event was over.
Despite all that, it was a great deal of fun. And I never realized until this concert how much I really like Godsmack, and Megadeth wasnt bad either. I did however realize that I find the standard heavy metal themes boring. You're a metal band and you're all about being generically angry and shout about anarchy and death and whatever? Snore.
I hope I have an opportunity to go back next year. Hopefully with the same group of friends too.

Old Journal is Old.
Yeah, Ive been pretty dead. And there's a good reason for that. I haven't been doing anything. So, yeah. But, last night I went from starting sketch to half a digital rough, so that's promising. Once I let go of actually working with an idea, it actually feels doable as a single project. I think I'm just going to run with that premise.
Also, I'm dangerously obsessed with Adventure Time.
Spectator Sport
Is the name of the comic me and my roommate are looking to produce. Hes the writer and Im the artist (and I provide creative suggestions). The story is set 20 minutes into the future where superpowers have become a buy and sell commodity, but expensive enough that only major corporations can afford them. In the end, it becomes a sport where super heroes and villains face off in arenas. Its essentially a parody of pro wrestling and football. Corporations sponsor "characters", the more successful of which have high dollar writers to create back stories for them, comic book series, action figure lines, the works. Im really excited about it. It o
Zombie
So, Ive been pretty dead here. Now that Ive graduated from college and have begun my foray into adult life (I scoff at the phrase...), all Ive really felt like doing after my full time job is exercising, lying on the couch fiddling with my new iphone, watching TV, and sleeping. This is the first time Ive turned on my computer in like 2 weeks. Still, Im moving into a new place this week, and hopefully the separation from my family will allow me to do some work (theyre like an anesthetic. I cant do anything around them). When I do starting arting again, I have a few projects Ive cooked up.
The first is something youve already seen some of. Sev
Commisions
I know Ive said something about wanting to do commissions before, but now Im dedicated to the idea. Ive graduated from college, have loads of free time, and I need an opportunity to produce pieces of a variety of styles and subject matter. I am in no way relying on these for income, so Ill keep the prices low.
I know I dont have a lot of people who watch me, but If anyone likes me work and wants something from me, here are my prices:
- characters: $5 each
- background: + $5-15 depending on how detailed
- grey scale/ cel-shaded: +$2
- full color: +$10
I must insist on no less than 10 image references being provided by someone trying to c
